Hi, I'm Yooyang,
a theatre practitioner currently based in London.
I work at the intersection of performance, applied theatre, and collective inquiry. In a society that often demands we fit our messy, complex lives into neat boxes or identities, I use the theatre space to resist this violence of categorization.
Whether I am devising site-specific theatre, facilitating Applied Theatre workshop for diverse communities, or exploring the shared gravity of contact improvisation, my practice relies on physical language to build affective communities. Through embodied narratives, my goal is to dismantle the traditional boundary between the spectator and the performer, transforming passive observation into active participation.
For me, theatre is a way to hold the ambiguity of authentic human experience, creating an unfiltered space where genuine dialogue comes to life and where we can truly listen to one another.
